SAGA: Disciplinary Outcome – Notice 2/2018

Attention: Department of Labour, Gas Associations and Gas Practitioners

The Southern African Gas Association (SAGA) has a mandatory role with the SAQCC Gas as received from the Department of Labour to register gas practitioners and unfortunately discipline practitioners who transgress the SAQCC Gas Code of Conduct and Practice.  Matters of transgression are not always pleasant to deal with but necessary taking into account the effect of the transgression of the Codes concerning damages to property, equipment and especially danger to people’s lives.

It is also necessary by means of this notice to inform all concerned of the outcome of the hearings.

SAGA had one (1) disciplinary hearing the past month with the following outcome:

Category: Domestic (NG)

Offences:    

  1. Breach of a code of the Codes of Conduct: (Serious Misconduct).‘Misrepresenting facts on any document including non-disclosure of required information’’
  2. Breach of a code of the Codes of Good Practice: (Serious Misconduct) – “Sign only for work I have personally carried out or work supervised for which I have personal knowledge through direct technical control or supervision’’

Penalty:      Final Warning valid for 12 months
